AYSO Volunteer Points Program
Competitive Divisions (10U–14U)
AYSO is a volunteer-driven organization, and our goal is to give every player the best soccer
experience possible. Teams can do their part by participating in our Volunteer Points
Program.
Eligibility for Regional Playoffs:
To qualify for advancement to the Regional Playoffs, a team must earn at least 11 total
points, including:
• 6 referee points
• 4 volunteer tent points
Points must be completed by midnight on the final day of Malibu matches. Teams that do not
meet these minimums will not be eligible to advance—regardless of their season record or
local playoff results.
How to Earn Points:
Coach Certification: If your head coach (and assistant, if applicable) completes all training
and fingerprinting requirements by the second match day, your team automatically earns 3
points.
New Referee Volunteers:
If your team provides a new adult referee (18+) who completes
training and officiates at least two matches as a center referee, your team will earn 6 points.
Up to 12 points may be earned this way.
Refereeing Matches: • Center referee = 2 points per match
• Assistant referee = 1 point per match
(No cap on referee points earned)
Volunteer Tent: 1-hour shift at the AYSO Visitor Tent = 1 point (max 8 points).
■■ Important: To advance beyond Malibu play, every team must have a certified center
referee. Please identify a team referee as soon as possible so we can provide training.
Non-Competitive Divisions (8U)
The ways to earn points are the same as above, but the rewards are different.
Since 8U teams cannot advance to regionals, the top team in each division (1 girls team, 1
boys team) with the highest volunteer point total will earn an ice cream or frozen yogurt
party at the end of the season.
To qualify, teams must earn at least 10 total points, including:
• 4 referee points
• 4 volunteer tent points
